5.4 35 inch tires 4.56 gears
#12
Man I had 35's and 3.73s and I was getting 8 to 9 mpg haha. But then I got some 4.56s, cold air intake, throttle body spacer and then I was getting 12 mpg and I was happy Now I have 33's still with the 4.56s and I'm running about 2400 RPM at 80 down the freeway getting like 13 mpg,....and my speedometer stops at 101 and it was at like 4000 RPM haha. But now with the 33's it feels like I don't have a first gear when I take off cause it shifts so quick

I have 325/65r18s with 4.56 gears, Roush supercharged with a 6" Procomp lift with a 3" body lift and getting ~16 MPG and running ~2200 RPMs at 80 MPH. Transmission is the real issue with larger tires and not modifying the stock gears. Puts a lot of stress on the gears in the tranny. Oh and I do go over 100 MPH at times without even noticing. It's all about the fun!!

you brought back a 5 year old thread...

That's okay.. A lot of people will come across this thread while doing a random web search for this topic and it's good to have some fresh information for them to read.
That's exactly how I find this old thread. I'm in the market for new gears myself.

Well I'm not going to make another thread so. I want to upgrade to 35s with my 5.4 with 3.55 I do a lot of city driving and go turnpike 400miles maybe 5 times a year. Do I have to upgrade to a better gear for the 3.55 or will my motor be fine pushing these tires. I'm running a small 265/70/r17 now and I have no problems.
My last resort would be 33's.
