Cleaned up the block and was ready to put my heads back on. I was actually impressed with the cylinders on my truck. 212000km and no ridge at all on the cylinders, and hardly any build up on the pistons.

By the way, if anyone has any questions or whatever, feel free to ask. Id like to say make sure you set both back head bolts in the head before placing the head on the block, i used masking tape to hold them up. If you dont, the firewall will prevent you from slipping them in their hole locations.

* Also - spend the $130 and get NEW head bolts! ive built and rebuilt many engines. Trust me, you do not want to spend all that time and money and have a problem down the road due to lousy bolts!

Done! Took me 45mins to Properly torque down each head, but doing things properly lets me sleep better at night. New timing set and cam phasers also installed.

Default Fantastic

Hey Bro just wanted to say great job!!!!....it is amazing on how much time it takes to tear things down, but quicker to put them together. And you are totally right on when you say it is great to work with new parts. Much simpler and clean. When I did my timing job I broke lots of bolts and like you two power steering bolts, so I know the feeling.
I also want to say what a great garage. Lots of space.
Good Luck on finishing your project. Can't wait to see the finished project.

I'm hoping to build a 24x30 garage/shop in the back yard this year. Maybe have to go bigger. Love that BIG garage!

Doesn't look as though you're having too much trouble. Impressive so far. You appear to be skilled beyond your years.

Got her all buttoned up.....

Filled it up with all new fluids, dropped in the battery, turned the key......and i was happier than a little kid in a candy shop. She ran Mint! not a noise other that the injectors, i swear i could balance a dime on the air intake she ran so smooth. Let it get up to temp. topped up the coolant and headed to bed. The next day is when everything went wrong.....

Thanks, i appreciate it. Ive been elbow deep in engines and in cars in general since i could pick up a wrench. Ive worked in huge million dollar body shops for summer jobs, and worked a year of night shifts at a mechanic shop. Im just one of those "do/fix anything" type of guys. growing up in the country, riding tractors and cutting lawns at 5-6yrs old for money didnt hurt either lol. I work hard for it tho. Every cent spent on my truck was made by me working hard at a job that doesn't pay enough. I am very knowledgeable, but i am not cocky. I still have lots to learn, and im not afraid to ask questions.
