So does the solenoid have anything to do with the light on the dash lighting. Looking through these answers I didn't see any solutions to the original question. My 4x4 light does not work either when switching to 4hi (haven't tried 4low) but I know the bulb is ok because it lights up when starting the engine and I know the 4hi engages when I turn the ****.

I have the same problem with my 06. Can someone take a picture pointing out the solenoid and where it is located exactly. Also maybe a part number from where you got the part to fix it too. Thanks in advance.

Ok. Thanks. I saw that there was an updated version of the solenoid. Is that all the auto parts stores sell now or do I have to specify. Or maybe I should just order it online instead. Any thoughts from anyone on that.

Got mind from Rock Auto shipped for like $17. Took about 15 minutes to replace. Everything worked perfect after the swap too. Kinda seems like it goes into 4x4 quicker now too ,as well as the indicator light working now too.
