New Pirelli's have flat spots
At 400 miles I took my truck back in because of a vibration, and they said the tires all had flat spots on them and to bring it back in after 1,000 miles if I was still feeling the vibration. The truck was found in Cincinnati, and transported back to Minneapolis in November. Does this happen often or a line of "Dealer speak" ?

Yes, the tires develop flat spots especially if they sat at the dealership for close to a year. They do a "road force test" and determine the viability of the tire.

Yes this is a problem. I took my truck in a second time for pulling to the left after dealer alignment. Ford knows there is a problem. They replaced all 4 of my tires with 800 miles on the truck. Keep taking it back until they fix it. It is a brand new truck. I demanded a loaner vehicle and they paid for a rental.

Just got my truck back from the dealer, and they replaced three of the tires, having replaced one when I bought it. Apparently, Pirelli produced some lots of Scorpions in early 2008 that were not round. They had flat spots, and this is the problem. My dealer did battle with Ford, and they replaced all the tires.

I remember reading in my manual that this truck may have high performance tires that can flat spot (or something like that) drive 10 miles and it will go away.
The first time I drove the truck I thought the tires were out of balance but sure enough it went away after a few miles.
Is your problem similar to this or was there really something wrong with the tires?
I noticed in another thread that you went to the dealer. What was the outcome?

John,
See above. It seesm that some of the Scorpions were produced out-of-round. I think that is dangerous, and it looks like Ford agrees. The dealer was very nice about it, but if you think your tires might not be round, might be a good thing to check.

Round 2
I took the truck back in this morning at 900 miles. This time they did the road force balance, and claim they took the right rear tire off the rim and repositioned it 180° and road tested again. This time of year it is hard to find a smooth patch of road to really test it on, but we are leaving for Texas in a week or so hopefully so will have plenty of dry smooth interstate to evaluate it. Good call SinCity!
