So I’m getting ready to put on a new timing chain kit and a few pumps. I was watching the video and the guy Al take the camshafts all the way out and I really don’t want to have to do that because I never bought anything to replace on the camshafts. Is there a way to take the timing chains off without touching the camshafts or locking them out somehow?

Yes, just unbolt the phaser from the camshaft and then carefully install the new one. The cam doesn't need to be removed unless your doing the cam followers and want to make that easier.
