4.6L V8; 2-valve vs. 3-valve
I'm a little confused about the differences in the 4.6L V8 when it comes to the number of valves. I have a 2007 F150 xlt with the 4.6, and I was wondering if there are 2 different 4.6 options for that model. I'm really bad at Google searches, so I was hoping someone could offer clarification on the 04-08 4.6L engines. Thanks.

negative. the 2004 Mountaineer/Exploder motor is an aluminum block 2V PI motor, same as the Mustang GT of the same year(except the 'stang has an iron block). I have one in my car and yes, it does haul ***.

just the weight difference from the aluminum block dropped 80lbs off the nose of my car. Honestly, I got a little tired about reading the same posts everyday on the same stuff...gets kinda old.

in addition to what you have already been told about weight differences, the mountaineer 4.6 engine also comes with a 6 speed tranny which gives you closer ratio gears giving you more power through out each gear, i test drove an adrenaline sport trac and that thing kicked ***, same engine/tranny setup as a 4.6 mountaineer
