you could change/clean your air filter, clean your throttle body and MAF. Get your tires balanced/rotated. There are other things but those are the easiest IMO without spending and arm and a leg. For all we know it could have just been a bad batch of fuel

My 5.4 gets 16 mpg most of the time. It did seem to lose 1 mpg after getting the plugs changed last summer though because it used to get 17 mpg regularly.

To all the people getting 17+ mpg, can you please tell me your secrets. No way I'm even close to that

^ Ditto. The best I've ever done is like 16.5 and that was averaging 65 MPH on the highway. Those of you claiming 17+, show a hand calculated log.

Run. Seafoam through the gas tank and brake vacuum line(get engine warm, take off the line that pulls vacuum, let it pull in 1/2 to full can of seafoam, immediately turn off engine, let sit 15 min, then drive it like you stole it, you should white smoke, that's the carbon being burned). I'm not sure if you have COP or the 4 post coil(that's what my 98 4.6 had) but those could be going bad, also.

I got 18.9 mpg once in my truck. I always figure it out since I dont have a computer that calculates it for me in my truck.

Most of my driving is on the highway. 23 miles one way to work and 99% of my work commute is highway.
