Default 35" Super Swampers and 17X8 AR Trench wheels

Ok I have had a 2.5" HBS leveling kit sitting new in the box for almost a year. I have been waiting until I was ready to change wheels and tires to install the kit. I am looking at 35X12.50-17LT Super Swampers, and American Racing Trench wheels in 17X8. I can get them mounted, balanced, and installed for right at $1500 for wheels and tires. The wheel offset is 25 and the backspacing is 5.48". I want to go with the LTB Swampers because the truck will be anywhere from Uwharrie National Forest ORV trails to Freeman Park at Carolina Beach. Plus I want the rugged lug tread look with the classic roar of the road noise.

So I guess it comes to my questions. The overall tire size is 35.2" and the tread width is 9.8". With the offset of the wheel should there be any rubbing ? Are they going to stick out of the fenderwells ? and Will I have any problems running 17" wheels ? (I like the smaller wheel size because the larger sidewall on the tire looks better IMO)

All opinions and input are welcome.

I went with 35x12.5x18 BFG Mud Terrain KM2 on stock rims on a 2006 F150 Fx4 Scab and a 2.5" Daystar Leveling Kit and have no rubbing at all. I think the BFG 35s are actually a little smaller than normal 35s though. But I can tell you one thing, Super Swampers & Wheel combo will be my next purchase. I paid $1640 out the door for just the tires, mount, & balanced at discount tire. I hate the fact that I have stock rims still, even though they are plasti-dipped, but the tires don't stick out at all, and the road noise is very minimal, which is what I didn't really want.

What kind of mileage do these tires get? You have any idea?

I have very similar setup except my tires are all terrains rather than mud terrains. I have 17x8 with +25 offset although they claimed 5.43 bs. I have 315/70/17 with a two inch level and no rubbing. Didn't trim anything. With the swampers aggressive lugs you may have to trim the lower valance plastic. Very minor. They won't stick out much at all. There are pics in my album titled my truck if interested.

The last set I had was on a beater truck and I got about (guessing) 50-60K miles out of them. You have to watch the air pressures, and rotate like crazy but with the LTB models you can go as low as 15 PSI and the traction is unbeatable. The wear is a skewed because the tread depth new is between 3/4 and an inch versus a half inch on most mud tires.

I love BFGs but I had bad luck with them in the sand and Uwharrie cuts them up so bad.
