Default 305's vs. 275's All terrains

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2005 FX4 supercab with factory fx4 wheels (18"x7.5") and I am looking to get new tires (BFG All Terrains) in a 33". I was looking at the different 33" sizes BFG has and it looks like the 275/70R18 is about the same size as the 305/R65R18. Is it really worth the extra width and $100 per tire for the 305? If anyone has either of these tires sizes on their truck please send me a picture, I would like to see if there really is any difference. Any words of wisdom would help too, thanks.

These tires are closer to 34 inches tall and they may rub if your truck's not leveled. The 285x65x18 would work better on a stock height truck. Just my 2 cent's!

I have 305/55r20 with stock height and they don't rub at all. I don't have stock rims though so the offset may be different im not sure.

I have the 275/70/18s. I drove them about 2 weeks before I got my 2.5 level kit on the front. I had no issues with them rubbing.

Thanks for your help guys I appreciate it. I will probably get a leveling kit later, but I'm not sure I'm gonna spend the $315 a tire for the 305's right now. Probably the 275's or 285's. Thanks again

What tire do you have, a 285x75 or a 285x70? A 285x75x17 is a 34 inch tall tire. A 285x70x17 is a 33 inch tire. 'Ya got me scratchin' my head!

If you are choosing between the 275/70/18 and the 305/65/18, they will both fit under a stock 4x4 without a leveling kit. I run the 275/70 and a buddy of mine runs the 305/65. We both have stock height 2007 4x4s and niether of us have any rubbing issues. For the price difference, I'd go with the 275s (in fact, I did).
