Default 2wd to 4wd spindle swap

Hey everyone I was told I could swap out the 2wd spindles on the front for 4wd so that I don't have to purchase the expensive 2wd rotors. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and what the actual parts are called because I couldn't figure it out. I'm pretty mechanically inclined just haven't messed around with this kind of stuff before

There is a conversion kit made by Centric Part #120.65128 that comes with hub, rotor, and nut. I made the swap and have about 30,000 miles on mine with no problem. Purchased from Amazon w free shipping.

Please excuse my ignorance, as I don't really understand here. You're wanting to spend money on 4wd spindles to save money on rotors? Or do you already have the spindles? Just seems like the savings vs. spending would cancel each other out.

Im not fully versed in this either but from my understanding the 2WD version is a rotor AND hub assembly in one. Nearly twice the cost of a 4WD rotor only. If future rotors need replaced it will cost half as much. Correct me if Im wrong?

Yes that is correct. They are twice the price and in the long run should save quite a bit of money

The 2wd setup has built in bearings. Its not just a "rotor" change , and is not cheap. The centrex conversion swaps out the setup so that in the future its just a rotor change. Setup comes with new hub, spindle nut(295lb torque), and rotor.

Very easy, took about a hr, with pad change.

Sounds like prime opportunity for a lift with 4wd drop spindles!

I was wondering this as well.. My driver front wheel bearing on my 2008 2wd screw is going bad. You can hear is moaning when you drive. The hub and rotor off 4wd would be an easier alternative I believe than the 2wd assembly. So it's basically a pull off and install and that's it? And then 4wd drop spindles will work on a 2wd?

The Centric Conversion is the easiest path to giving your 2WD truck the ease of rotor swaps found in the 4WDs. It also becomes more cost beneficial if you're going to keep the truck through multiple rotor replacements. Has hydrant328 stated above, it's quick and easy. I did the conversion to my truck, so I can attest to its benefits.
