Default 2007 5.4 FFV power steering rack length issues?

Title mostly days it all. I have a 2007 XLT supercab with 5.4L FFV and recently began redoing power steering system as it badly needed some love. Took the old rack and pinion out and foolishly forgot to measure it before I dropped it off as a core to get my new one. My problem is that the new rack, despite being a "fit" for the vehicle, has its attachment bolt holes too short. The holes under the truck at the mounting brackets are about 17 and 5/8 inches apart while the new rack has its holes 16 and 3/4 inches. I cannot seem to find hole to hole measurements on any sites to buy a new rack, were there two sizes for this model year or have I done something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: FEdgot to mention, my VIN pulls up as being an FX4 package and it has 4wd. Dont know if that matters

Thank you for your reply! I did not know that these all needed to be taken in to consideration, even my ford parts guy said that rack should fit. If you know, what are my options for ensuring my next rack is a true fit?

Yes, I am lucky enough to have the original sale paperwork and it still matches everything on the truck. The VIN I have is 1FTPX14V77FB34470. Apologies for late reply and I very much appreciate your help. I am kinda new to Ford and this is my first post on the forums.

this should be the proper one for your truck
8L3Z-3504-BRM
STG-312-RM

however its possible you got a mispack or misbuilt one. Any numbers on the new rack

Thank you, you are a big help! The numbers 4L3C-3550-ED is what is on the new rack embossed in the metal.

Hey all! Thank you for all the help. So as it turns out, the rack I had been sent was packaged incorrectly which explains why it wouldnt fit up. Got a new rack and it went right in no problem. Learning moment, measure measure measure!
