Default 2008 XLT 5.4 triton

Know the 04-08 5.4 tritons are infamous for the "tick" is there anything else I need to worry about with my newly acquired 08. I did contact Ford about it and they said that the heads had been replaced by Ford in 2009, which apparently was an issue with this generation of trucks.

Lots of threads that discuss this engine. It's a great motor; drive it and enjoy it. Yours is a later year, so many of its "querks" have been corrected.

Search on "5.4" in this forum, grab a beverage of choice, then read away!

No... the heads were re-designed in Oct. 2007 and motors built after this date use a different spark plug and have improved VTC and timing. Your 08 may have the new heads..

That's what I read on here somewhere. Getting the service records from ford was a task I hope I never have to do again. Thanks for the info
