2008 Ford F-150 5.4 3V Bogging down under load low power
Hello all, Im a bit of a novice when it comes to this site. i hear great things about this forum and am hoping that i can get some answer or get pointed in the right direction as far as some issues with recent purchased of my 2008 Ford F 150 XLT 5.4 V8 3V . I recently had a misfire on cylinder 1 when I decided to give it gas uphill and had a code P0301 changed all coils and spark plugs code went away. Then i decided to punch it going up a hill again to see if code came back and check engine light came on but then disappeared as I was going down hill. I couldn't get to a place to read code because it disappeared. Truck felt like it was bogging down at 3k rpm and couldn't go past 80 mph as I was going up hill. Cleaned out my mass air flow and throttle body. Still the same. My idle in park is somewhere between 500-700 is that normal? As i was cleaning throttle body i noticed it looked like it was slightly open about a heavy 1/8" could this cause so much power loss? Whats the next step should I get my catalytic converters checked?. I have no check engine light on and no codes at the moment. truck does not stall. any Help! please and thank you!

you took the throttle body off to clean it right ? do you smell rotten egg smell from your exhaust ?

Blogging down low power
Hi thanks yes I did clean out throttle body and spray mass air flow sensor got a little more power but I feel it’s not enough. Just noticed I have a 3 inch hole in the back of my muffler near where tailpipe connects too. Could that still cause so much power loss? Exhaust smells clean no rotten egg smell

No... that would not account for power loss... Did you remove the throttle body from the manifold when you cleaned it ? clogged cats would account for loss of power and bog down.. dumping raw fuel into the cats with a un-corrected mis-fire will do it.

Make sure to do the TB relearn procedure if you hadn’t. Disconnect negative battery cable, jumper cable to positive for a few minutes, hook up battery. Turn key on but don’t start for a minute. Start and idle up to operating temp, then idle another 10 minutes. Take for around-town drive.
From your initial description it sounds like you’re still misfiring.
