2008 F150, shifting issues, (automatic)
HELP, PLEASE!
I own a 2008 F150 XLT, 4x4. It has almost 80,000 miles on it, and has been a excellent truck! I have been having problems with the trans. The problem is at Low speeds, like when driving in the city. When the truck shifts from 2nd-3rd, it acts as if it cant find 3rd? If i let off the acclerator completly, it then goes into 3rd gear. Its hard to explain exactly. Imagine if when your gradually acclerating, the truck is in 2nd gear, then about the time its suppose to upshift too 3rd gear, it goes into nuetral instead. I had this problem for quite a while, but in the past it was only once in a while that this would happen. This ONLY HAPPENS, at low speeds, ive noticed. If im hard on the gas, like merging on the expressway, or if im playing in the mud, if shifts fine. Now, its becoming much more frequent! I have and will, always work on my own vehicles. Been around and under alot of cars to know my way around. But, as far as transmissions go, i dont know much! Ive swapped.quite a few, done some clutches, and some trans fluid/filter changes, thats about all though. I am not positive what trans. is in my truck, its a 5.4liter V8, with the trailer tow pkg. Its a supercab also. If theres a typical trans for that motor, thats probably the one! Any help, from anyone, is greatly appreciated!
