2008 F150 5.4 - Transmission Pan Drain
Hi All!
I've been trying to find this info. My truck is getting up there 120miles now. The trans has a slight shutter, so I thought I would be proactive and change the filter again but do a few drain and fill every 30k to keep it happy. Rather than wearing ATF - I thought I would replace the pan with one of those pans with a drain plug. I think the E250 ? or E350 cube vans came with it? I need to know What year Year/Engine/ MOtor Combo van's came with that drain plug in the trans pan? SO I can buy it from NApa (i am up in Toronto, canada) |
Can't remember the details you asked for, but this is the one I put on my 05 5.4 4x2.

I bought a 5 buck drain plug (Dorman). Been close to 5 years since install, no leaks, works great.
|
I also have the Dorman pan on my truck. Works great.

You can do one of two things.
You can install the Dorman pan linked above with a new OEM gasket (I know it's a lifetime gasket, but at 120k miles compression wear does happen and the one supplied with most filters is paper thin). Or you can take off your current pan, drill a hole in it and put in a drain plug like this: https://smile.amazon.com/80250-Autom.../dp/B00029WR78 Personally I went the first route. The dorman pan flexes a little more than the OEM, but it seals up fine. |
