Morning Paul,
Yes, that's right... I remember the Limited having AWD just like my Freestyle. It also had 4x4 on the fly as well.
Nice thing about the AWD system, your vehicle was a FWD vehicle, until it noticed 1/8 of a turn wheel slip. Then it would engage the AWD mode and off again, just as quick as you required it.
With our 4x4 system, ALL the tires turn at the same rate, even if they are slipping. With the Halidex AWD system, it would transfer power to the individual wheels that were not slipping. That is until you can make them all slip at the same time.
But then again, it would also throttle back if it noticed that all the tires were slipping.
Very nice to know that it would not free rotate the tires faster than 35 mph. I guess you can have a major blow out if they free rotate in excess of 55 mph. Or something like that.
The Freestyle didn't have a throttle cable. It had a throttle sensor. Also, it had a button on the floor, that once the gas pedal was fully depressed, it would open the throttle body for all the power that was available from the engine. The Freestyle also had a CVT. This meant NO towing power. This vehicle was limited to 1000 pounds only.
I am sorry that I left my Freestyle behind, but on the other hand... I am never going to give up my truck either.
