Default 2008 F-150 5.4L Oil Change

Ok guys, I'm looking for any information about changing oil through the dipstick tube. The idiot at the old shop that I used to go to, over tightened and stripped the oil plug. I couldn't get the plug out but was able, somehow, to tighten it back up. A week has went by, the plug is still tight and I have no leaks.

I talked to another shop and they stated tgat it could just be the plug is stripped or it might be the pan that is stripped. If its the plug, they could get it out and a new one in only costing labor and the plug. But the pan would be upwards of $500 or more, because of the amount of labor to get the pan off.

So now to my question. Has anyone used a topside oil vacuum changer and if so does it work on most f150 engines. I'm looking for a cheap solution for now. I will replace the oil pan at another time when I have no other use for $500.
Any advice would be great

Thanks

Some other options here include trying a single oversize plug. It will cut new threads as it's tightened in.

There's also the option of drilling out and using a time sert. We sell 14x1.25 inserts to a local shop who is making a KILLING off Walmart across the street from him. Their techs are constantly stripping out oil pans!

Or remove old drain plug with a pipe wrench and install one of these..
Fumoto oil drain valve.. never have another stripped oil plug again. Have had them on everything I have ever owned.. not one problem.

You need to get the plug out. Try pulling with a pair of Vise-Grips as you turn it out. Once you get it out there are oversized plugs available. If re-tapping is required, have an assistant pouring oil in slowly as you cut the new threads to wash the chips out. I'm almost certain this is fixable without dropping/replacing the pan. Once you get it fixed, the Fumoto valve Mark (techrep) mentioned is a good option.

That's not the best way to do it.

Take the old plug out, if you need to tap the pan put grease in the flutes of the tap. Turn no more than 1/2 - 3/4th turn then back out the tap, clean the grease and all the trapped chips. Regrease and repeat. Pouring oil is just gonna make thing oily and and mess.
