I would bet the farm its not PCM related. This sounds exactly like my past issues with the VCT system. Heavier oil solved it. Ford uses the light oil to help with mpg. My thoughts are the lighter oil thins out and the phazers aren't getting the correct psi from the oil pump because of it. As soon as I go back to 5/20 the issue returns. I'm no engineer but I have common sense. I could however be masking the issue of a weak oil pump. Idk. But right now she runs like a top. See what tomorrow brings. If possible find what codes are being shown with the CEL. That will tell us kinda where its coming from. Jmo.

Yes they are. Im just questioning how long it will hold up after repairs. I think it is only a 30 day warranty after I take possession.

If it is fixed correctly it will last a long time. If they put in 15-40 oil to keep the phasers from loosing its time who knows

Well, I finally got some info. There was a misunderstanding between the mechanic and the salesman. Salesman was under the impression that both phaser and solenoids were changed out. In reality the mechanic only changed out the drivers side phaser and solenoid. Today they are doing the other side.

the only down fall to that is now the timing chain, tensioners and guides will be original, unless they are going to replace them as well..??.,l
if they dont replace them listen on start up to see if there is any chain slap. or noisy start up.

Haha oh man! They had it all apart and just skipped one phaser! Dang that sucks. If they replaced everything you should be good to go!

Yeah, I wanted to pull my hair out when they said they only changed one. Originally the salesman told me they changed everything, but he misunderstood the mechanic. They have it all put together and will run it tomorrow with the scanner hooked up. Now, I don't know if they changed the tensioner and guides. They are suppose to give me a list of all components replaced.

Welp, just got word from the dealer that I am to come pick up the two vehicles I traded in for this 08 F150. The changed both phaser and solenoids and the problem still existed. Finally they put an oil pressure guage in and the truck has very little pressure at idle. So, it needs a new engine. The dealership is going to wholesale it.
