Default 2007 F150 King Ranch Transmission Problem

Hello,

I have a 2007 F150 King Ranch 5.4L with “ONLY” 40,400 miles. The transmission filter and fluid were changed last year. The problem I am having is when the truck is slowing down for red light or stop sign; right at 25 MPH the transmission is shifting hard. There is no rough shift when going up in speed. Can someone with more knowledge than I have tell me what the problem might be. The transmission fluid is at the correct level. Thanks for any help!

define "shifting hard" ... you feel a slight bump? it jars your teeth and feels like the dash is going to fall off in your lap? it feels like another car hit you from behind at 30 mph?

Just a slight bump, only noticed it when going very slow, if I needed to stop fast I would probably not even have noticed it at all, when I noticed it I was driving on a road with lots of red lights, timing was at a point where I was stopping at everyone, so I was basically drifting down in speed with very little braking. Of course now that I know the problem is there, it seems I notice it ever time I stop, it fells as if all four tires are rolling over a seam in the road at the sametime. Just want to make sure I am not doing more damage by driving or if it needs go on into the shop to prevent further damage costing more money, or is it nothing to worry about,

Possible driveshaft clunk? (slip yoke greasing issue)

will raise the rear end off the ground tomorrow put it in drive craw under the truck with someone controlling the brake and find out. I could be wrong but when I changed the transmission fluid / filter last year I don't think I was able to see any grease fittings,

Let us know what you find out. I have the same issue and have read the slip yoke as referenced above could be the issue, but that it could also just minimize it for a short while and doesn't solve it. When I decelerate to about 25 mph or so, and then give it gas, it revs up, and if I don't let off the gas it slams into gear and is not a pleasant feeling! For the time being I've just learned to let off the gas until it shifts. My problem is that I just don't have any time to get to it and figure it out.

I've read a few other reports that if you haven't already, putting a custom tune on it can solve it, as the shift point could be out of whack, but only seen a couple cases where that's fixed it.

I agree, sounds more like a drive shaft issue.

thanks for everyone's input, after getting different advice from this forum and reading other possibilities on the net I decided to take the truck into the local dealership and pay $90 for a diagnostic, figured this would be cheaper than to start throwing money at different possibilities. At the dealership I was told the transmission needs to be reprogramed -- This is word for word what I read on another site ""Ford Engineers have know about this issue for awhile, symptoms also include harsh 2-1 downshift and the feeling of a bump when coming to a stop. There is a calibration for the PCM and TCM out for the 5.4L engine with 6 speed tranny. One is not available yet for the 4.6L but will be shortly."" Hope to pick the truck up later today, will report back how she rides and the final cost

Hopefully the reprogram works.

Correct me If I am wrong, but the 6 speed trans was not an option in the F150 until 2009.
