2007 F150 4x4 front end noise
Hi All,
I have a whirring noise from my front end. Sounds like I have off road tires but I don't. Heard this a couple of years ago and replaced driver side wheel hub assembly and took care of problem. Assumed this was the same problem because noise is the same. I replaced the driver side hub assembly and noise remained. Replaced passenger side also and still have noise. With the front end jacked up and engine off, I can rotate the tires and the half shafts turn as well.
However with engine on, when I rotate passenger side the shaft does not move. When I rotate driver side, shaft moves with it. Any ideas? Thought it might be the IWE solenoid but wouldn't both sides be acting up? Maybe a vacuum leak on driver side? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Probably an actuator, check the link at the top of this forum on the 4x4 system and how it works. Get it fixed or it will end up not engaging when you need it.
