I know i may have 5000 people responding telling me, "change them now!" but im not going to until i have a problem because the chances of me having a faulty plug before i stop driving the truck is very slim.

Don't jump in a 5.4 question with your 4.6 advice then. the reason we're yelling "change them now!" is because it is a known problem on the 5.4s and the OP needs to do it as soon as possible. I had an Escort with 130K and original plugs with no problems. Still glad I changed them, because 3/4 were not gapped properly. You suggesting not to change them until he has a problem is like a blind man telling someone the sun hasn't set yet.
Ok sorry guys, i have changed my mind now completely. I now know that it is best to change your plugs in your vehicle right away! Dont wait!!!! There is a certain amount of time ( which is unknown) that you need to change them. Its better to change them at 50K, or even 25K miles, because if they are gonna break, atleast they break on you, and you have to pay the bill instead of never having any problems with the plugs 100k miles down the road and letting the next person have to deal with it after you have traded it in. I think im going to get off the computer and go try to fix something that is not broken and try to spend some cash that i originally didnt have to spend.

But for those of us who don't jump truck to truck, or who have puchased a truck that you'll keep past 100k:
If your replacing with Motorcraft I'd recommend doing it somewhere around the 75-100k mark to keep the truck running at full potential. The carbon buildup may be worse than at 50k, but you're changing them half as often. People still break them at 30k. (they still break even if re installation is per the TSB)
Most of the people who recommend changing immediately are going to the Champion plugs, which won't break again. In which case it's probably a good idea as you will probably have less stock plugs break compared to waiting..
