Take a look on the Edge to see if any codes are stored. Record them and then clear them.
Depending on what is there, may help determine what is necessary.

Next steps - disconnect battery, turn on lights to drain any residual current.
TPS reset procedure.
Battery relearn process step by step.
These 2 steps may help or maybe not. No pain or expense tho.

Done and done. I'll drive the truck for a day or two and report back.

Per the manual:
The "wrench" indicates limp mode.
The "crate motor" is service engine soon.

I got the wrench on my 5.4 this winter, every time it was bitterly cold or snowing. I was running a AEM dryflow filter and Gotts mod. The effect would be the same as a K&N CAI. I got sick of it after the 5th time and put my stock intake and WIX filter in and it hasn't done it again.

The truck acted just as bad as usual this morning after the battery and TB resets. Also, I forgot to mention that the truck had no codes before battery removal, and just a P1000 code afterwards, which comes up anytime the battery is disconnected for a length of time.

I really wish I had a factory air box laying around, but I do not. The PO installed the K&N.

The code was something like "torque value over threshold" PO61B.

Salvage yard or ebay will be the best option.

Were you able to reason why?
What code showed up?
May be helpful to others.

I have had a code very similar or identical to that when the truck was cold, running a Level 3 Evo tune, and before the grocery list of fixes I've tried. It would happen pulling away from a stoplight and immediately put the truck in limp mode until a restart.

P061B, fix was returning intake to stock and using a reliable filter, WIX in my case.
