Default 2006 Roush build

Well my 06 Roush non intercooled supercharged bent a rod at 40,000. I think it was due to a stuck injector. I decided since I was doing a rebuild I would build the dang motor correctly and add an intercooler. The engine has ported head, CP pistons studs top and bottom (ARP) dynatech headers and all new valve train.
I replaced lifters, chains, sensors, gears and springs/retainers. Every bolt was sent to be replated. The valve covers were cut apart and all rivet spots drilled for 10/32 bolts. That way I could bead blast clean and prime and paint. The motor and covers/manifold were painted with epoxy primer and painted in urethane. All the SC pulleys were changed. the start alternator and water pump (OEM ford) was replaced. Obviously the injectors were upgraded and all new coils added. The tranny was rebuild with killer components and a nice billet convertor and a kick *** LTR added for the IC with all silicone tubing. I think it ended up costing me $15,500 in the engine and tranny. I did all labor!

The pulleys are all Metco except the SC pulley which is from a company in Florida. As you can see I had to move the dang tranny cooler to install the IC. Every engine bracket/tube/mount was bead blasted and primed with expoxy primer. As you could imagine this was a tremendous amount of work. The dang factory black sucks and quickly rusts. Ford doesn't even prime the engine mounts

Please post some dyno numbers when you are done. Very nice build, but $15k is 1K more than my entire truck, lol.

Nice build!
I see you got that frozen boost intercooler snuck between the frame. I tried that myself with 3.5" thick version, but I didn't like how the tranny cooler wasn't seeing airflow behind the bumper.

What LT headers do you have on there? Do you hear the valves tapping through the headers at all?

How does she feel with the fresh built motor and trans? I'd imagine the intercooler alone made a substantial difference.

Who did your tuning?

What kind of bread or media blaster did you use?

More pics please!

I have a zero blast bead blaster with a turbine instead of a vacuum. The thing is nice and quite! There is no substitute

The truck isn't done. I have a few things left. It just seems to take forever to get anything done. I won't be back at my garage for two weeks b/c of travel so no pics for a while. But I will get more. I have a friend from turbomustang website who basically has the same truck doing the tune. IC is 26X7X3.5. It took a little thought but it worked well. I actually moved the tranny cooler higher. It has more airflow now. It's now behind the latch support. The headers are Dynatech 304 SS.

Default Money Money Money

I bought the truck used with 22,000 for $28,000. Not a horrible deal since it was what I wanted. The engine bent a rod at 40,000. It was a non IC truck so I decided since I was going to build it I should built correctly.
Engine machine work $2,100 (line bore (ARP Studs top and bottom), mill heads bore (very very little!) and hone block (torque plates) clean, check crank, balance and valve job.
Engine assembly $1,500 included port heads
FORD OEM water pump, springs (I think these were $200 or so of the 500)misc engine parts $500
VCT (from ford) $150
plugs and coils $150
intake Roush IC (new) $1,600
headers and cats $1,400
torque convertor $800
tranny parts pan $1000
labor and core $1,900 (mine fell of tranny jack and broke great huh)
bolts plating $75
pulleys $500
IC cooler $200
Bosch IC pump (wire and bracket)$110
Valve covers machine work$125
Pro power gaskets, pistons, rods, ARP studs upper/lower/ bolts, rings, oil pump (bought a good one), bearings, gears, chains guides, parts $5,100
silicone tubing$50
silicone elbows and joiners (bought way too many)$120
Gasket blower$40
pipe SS 2.5 B/T headers and cat back $60
Oil dipstick balancer bolt $50
alternator belt $40
alternator starter (my friend gave these to me new!)
Did I add that correctly $17,570?
I owed $18,000 when she blew. So it was either fix or buy a new truck. Since the only new truck I would buy would be a Roush SC Raptor I figured it was cheaper to fix. the body and interior are near mint. I thought it was $15,000. My good I spent a lot. That does not include the paint and primer and body stuff I used detailing everything. I did the engine removal and install myself. I guess that;s good b/c it would of cost a fortune!!!!!!!

Wow $1400 for headers and cats! That's a great deal for dynatech.. Do you got a link to where you bought them?

You certainly spent a buck or 2, but if that blasting cabinet was included, plus other tools and media than I can see why.. I'm looking for a good blasting setup myself, thanks for the PDF.

Sounds like the trucks got a long life ahead of it. In my book it's worth it, because you've just tailored the truck like a good suit that is designed to fit you.

Can't wait to see more build and finish pics!
