Default 2006 Rims peeling of finish ??

Question is it the norm for the finish to peel off 2006 ford factory rims (18 inch) ?? I thought about purchasing another set of used factory rims but little leary now.

it happens for a few reasons

improper wheel weights, road salt, and brake dust sitting on there for too long

I found a factory set(4 rims)new condition on craigslist for $325.Leaning pretty heavy that way Bought my 2006 used and have no idea how previous owner took care of my current rims.

Oh ok just wondering. Because I have the chrome ones also but they have been sitting in my shed since I leifted my truck and they look almost as good as new.

No but certin condition do play a part but by the sound of it your wheel are probably polished not chrome get them refinished look up alloy wheel repair were nation wide and they can fix ur wheel stay with factory better grade aluminum than after market

I checked into the alloy rim repair they want $135 per rimI found 4 like new condition used rims for $325 on local craigslist.I might go that route.Thanks.

My 06 chrome wheels peeled too,started around the valve stems and went from there.


Look on ebay I picked up a set off a 2012 for under $400...

The valve stem area is where mine are peeling also.
