2006 FX4 Bulb Replacement
 

I have a 2006 FX4 and I need to replace the back light behind my LED display (odometer & temp). Does anyone know how to pull out the cluster to access the bulbs for this?

Thanks CFR450, I ended up using a #74 bulb as a replacement, seems to work fine.

I pulled my cluster out tonight to replace the odometer bulb, took the two different bulbs to auto parts store to find the closest comparison and what I came up with was:
#2723 for the Gray sockets (5 of them)
#37 for the black sockets (6 of them)
I replaced all of them while I had the cluster out and it all works fine. Keep in mind this was for a 06 XLT cluster but the bulbs should all be the same. At O'reilly Auto Parts they even had a replacement socket and bulb combo for like an extra $1 per 2 bulbs...

I'm wanting to do this just to change out from green to blue. Thanks guys, good information. Question though. Is the lights for the ac controls etc the same bulb #?

I am not sure about that, you would have to pull it out and compare them. Or im sure there is a thread on here somewhere about the dash lights.

I know this is an older thread but just wanted to add my 2 cents because I am the type of guy who does not like to take things apart unless its something I do not care about.
Let me say that replacing the bulb (I used #37LL sylvania from autozone) was very simple. if you can remove a screw, you can do this. The only part I thought was initially difficult (turns out it was not) was removing the bezel piece that covers the cluster, it did not come out as easy as initially expected but I was not pulling hard enough. Just work your fingers up between the gap and keep pulling slightly up and towards you, it will pop right off.

once you get to the bulb, twist the gray base out, pull out the bad bulb, pop new one in and put back together in reverse order as everyone says.

I hate the phrase "If I can do it, anyone can" but this truly applies in this case.
dont let Ford tell you you need a new cluster.
PS, get the LL bulb, its long life and will last a lot longer than the regular #37 bulb.

You should also be aware that the bulb that lights up the information center is slightly larger then those for the guages/cluster. The information center in the cluster uses this larger bulb to allow it to burn brigher during daytime, and dims automatiacally when the parking/headlights are on.
