2006 F150 FX4 6" Lift for 5.5" BS wheels
Hey guys,
I've been killing myself over the past few weeks trying to search for this answer but I cannot come to a definitive answer. This is one of those things where you need a YES or NO in order to go through with.
What brand lift can I use my 20x9 wheels with a 5.5" BS and 295/65/20 (35.1" x 11.6") Nitto Trails?
I found a guy that says he has a 6" Skyjacker on one of the forums in his 2008 KR with the stock 20's and 35" Nitto Trails so I thought I was in the clear. (I PM'd him to find out but he hasn't responded). Anyways, I called Skyjacker Tech Support (318-388-0816) and they said their kits only work with 4.5"BS wheels like most other brands. What the hell...Back to square one. I have read a couple posts on here about 5.5" should work since some guys have 5" and still have some clearance left. The only other ones I was looking at were Fabtech (they increase the front track width with CV spacers) and BDS. I emailed the Fabtech Tech guy Armen Mosikian and he just said they dont test their kits on 20" wheels. Go figure.
Can anyone offer information about this and lead me in the right direction as to who might have a setup I am looking for or who to talk to?? I know I should just get the 4.5" BS wheels but my wheels are brand new and would like to keep them because I am not a fan of them sticking out a ton (also illegal around here).
Thank you very much.

That wide wheel is tucked in to far to use the the lift kit. You might be able to get by with it if you have a skinny tire, but do you want to risk it? Once you buy the lift kit you might see that the rim rubs the Spindle or something.
I would say NO, and get some rims with at least +0mm Offset for a 9 inch wide rim wich would give you the 4.5" BS you require.

I am just waiting for him to respond to my messages because I definitely do not want to risk this big of a purchase. I also dont know if he is using spacers for the wheels or rigging something that I cant tell from the picture. Unfortunately, this picture isnt worth a 1000 words in my scenario. Thanks Bassackwards for your input though.

I didnt think it was that bad (wide). I actually thought it was skinny to begin with..but i guess i went from a 20x8.5 to a 20x9 so technically it's wider. haha. Nothing like a 20x12 or anything though. Yeah I will have to look and see further and I guess worse comes to worse I will try to find a cheap set of negative offset wheels. Thanks man.

Haha Yeah it's not wide for a car, but it's wide for a truck that will be accepting wide off-road tires. My bud has 8.5" wide rims on his lifted chevy with 345/75/16 (37x13.50) with a perfectly seated bead. You can fit really wide tires on a 9" wide rim for a truck, but low pro tires need like 10" wide rims to fit a 315 wide tire. I plan on getting at least a 10" wide rim on my Trans Am when I start building it up this summer.
Edit: Meant 8.5" wide rim.

Ahhh..i see. I was wondering how that worked because a 13.5" tire is really wide and I thought you would need like a 12" wide rim. But good to know. Thanks.
