Wink 2006 F-150 jerking / shacking in curves or uphill

Hello !! Hoping to get pointed in right direction. I have a 2006 F-150 5.4 with 80,000 miles on it. For about the last year, I have noticed that sometimes when I go around a curve , uphill or starting out my truck jerks/shakes/jumps. If I let of gas it stops or give it more gas it does away. Doesnt do it all the time... Any ideas??

Common problem. Replacing the plugs and coils fixed mine that was doing the same thing.

Had this issue 2 times. First time I replaced the plugs. Came back. Just replaced the plugs again and coils and it's running so well now. I am convinced the factory coils only last 75k miles.

I bought mine online (amazon) and saved money. My dealership wanted a fortune for coils.... I got a set of 8 for like $225 or so. Expect to spend about $300 but it's worth it.

What everyone fails to do is a full diagnosis of the issue.

When a plug goes it could be one of two reasons, a failed plug do only too it own failure, or it could be a failed plug due to a failing coil. A bad coil can take out a plug.

If that were to happen, changing plugs would only mask the problem until the bad coil took out that plug again.

^ Exactly.... But just do the plugs and coils while you are there. The coils sit on top of the plugs so might as well do both while you are getting dirty (or paying someone to do so).

Just a side note. this could be another problem depending on "jerking" "shaking" you are getting.

If this is a missfire, yeah plugs/coils. I just did this at 100k even though my truck was fine and didn't need it I wasn't going to push my luck.

If you are still getting this "jerking" or shimmy from the front end when going around corners. Change your rear diff fluid. Mine was doing that at lower speeds during accel around corners and it turned out the limited slip rear end was the problem. Changed the fluid and put the friction modifier in there and bam it totally stopped.

Just another thing it could be.

I have the 3.73 LS diff in mine.
