I've always heard that its healthy for an engine to burn oil. Not a lot though. But I don't know anything about this sort of thing... I know my truck used to burn oil but after regular oil changes it hasn't burned anything

Put some lucas stabilizer in it next oil change. Maybe it sat for an extended period of time and it caused a small gasket leak or valve seal leak. Its worth a try.

I am no mechanic but it sounds like from what you mentioned that it's definitely using oil somewhere internally. I also have an 06 that has led a hard life and is still running strong with 118,000 miles on the OD and ever since I bought it new back in 06, 7 quarts goes and 7 quarts comes out at the next oil change, lucky? I dunno but it definitely works for me. Acquaintances that I have that have the same year trucks as I have say the same thing that I just did. Good luck at finding where that oil is going. I know I had a similar problem with a Ford Crate engine in a 95 that I had previously and they ended up replacing that engine yet again.
