2006 5.4 3V Which coils and which plugs

I have another thread going but I did buy the dreaded cheap coils and I have a no run condition. I figure I should put new plugs and coils. The coils were the 8 for $50. The truck is flooded and non running so I am trying to eliminate variables...

There's honestly not many that I've seem to have a problem using cheap coils. Some will bang the Motorcraft only drum, but it doesn't seem to matter with coils so long as you don't use Accels lol.

As for plugs, there's only 4 brands out there for the 3V... Autolite, Motorcraft (made by Autolite), Champion, and E3. Definitely stay away from the E3's. Champions are mixed basket. Most seem to have the best luck with Motorcraft plugs.

Where are your OEM motorcraft coils you took off the truck? They may just need springs/boots.

They are gone. I threw them away. I just want to replace them. I just need the part number

I don't think this is your problem though.

Coils wont cause a no start/run condition, unless all 8 are unplugged.

Well at this point it tries to start bu won't. I wonder if he coils are firing intermittanetly and the plugs are fouled. As i said before FORD (Tasca) had trouble gewtting it goin.... I still can't understand why she ran fine one day and then not another

Maybe a shorted wire. Did you check all grounds from the motor to chassis, body to chassis etc?

Yes these are all good suggestions.. If all that checks out I'd be looking at the throttle body and TPS rather than assuming all plugs and cops are not working.. These throttle body's should really be considered as a possible "wear" item now that these trucks are older..

NG...
like I told you in the other thread, just forget what they told you, if they had a real answer to your problem they would have definitely tried it by now, unless you've been writing them rubber checks lol!
Check over that whole motor for a stupid, easy fix mistake.

I'd still get the plugs, and cops are always good to have on standby.
