2006 4x2 - ABS kicks in at <23MPH - No lights
2006 F-150, when braking it feels like ABS is kicking in whenever I get down to (or under) 23MPH. It feels fluidy (which isn't a word), and I believe it is ABS related. No dash light comes on, and no codes are present. I am planning to order a wheel speed sensor, and see what happens. Any other thoughts? I have seen this issue on some older models, but not sure about this generation. Thanks!

Sounds like a wheel sensor. Buddy s chevy just had the same prob but it was under 6 mph. Only thing his was just rust under it and we just cleaned it up and its find now.

You can try cleaning the sensors up but not so sure that what you're experiencing is ABS related. The feeling ABS cause is a very distinct rapid pulsing and clicking on the brake pedal. Sounds like another brake related issue like bad master or stuck caliper.

Well I ordered and tried a wheel speed sensor on both front wheels and no dice. The pedal does pulse, and Ford dealer said it was something ABS related (but they could be wrong). I guess I'll order the rear, but is there anything else I can check? Other than replacing the master, is there a way to check it? I'll do a little more research on the site, but if anyone has more suggestions, please keep them coming.

Mine started doing this so I replaced the pads thinking they were bad and still does it. I am going to replace the passenger caliper since it is the only one that hasnt been replaced yet and see if that works. I have had the master cylinder replaced due to a different problem. Keep us posted on what you find out.

UPDATE: To test whether it was ABS related or not, I pulled the connector for the drivers side front sensor. The ABS light came on, but the issue went away! So I am thinking now it is the rear sensor (or the module). Ordering the rear sensor now, I'll post back with results once it gets here.

Sorry, I forgot to get a picture. It is right on top of the diff though. One 3/8(?) bolt holding it in. I tried a known good rear speed sensor last night, and still no change. So to recap, I have tried all three wheel speed sensors, and I am still having the issue. Definitely ABS related, because when I unplug the front sensor, the issue goes away (but the ABS light comes on). Aside from ordering a module, what else can I try? I'm really bummed it wasn't just a sensor...
