Default Where did the power window motor go?

Funny story. I print out the Ford troubleshooting sheets, take a multimeter, jump box, wires, tools out and pop out the switch modules on the driver's window and passenger window. Wanted to make sure all connections were good, wiggled them etc.. All good. Take out the meter and get proper readings on all wires, voltage, etc..Confirm all other windows work. They do.

Take my time and take off the door panel so I can jump the motor as it points to being bad. I have limited skills in automotive but I can figure things out (takes three times as long as someone who knows what he's doing though).

I finally get to the taking the panel off and this is what I find:

Not only is the window being held up by tie down straps, but the motor and assembly I believe is missing!.. Can someone tell me what's supposed to be there and do I need to go to a junkyard to get the hardware?

Thanks

Just get a regulator with a motor. Should be it if the plug is still there. You could get it from the junk yard if you want, but they're less than $100 new, usually. At least mine was. I replaced mine a few weeks ago.

Don't sell yourself short. By the time I even got the door panel off the first time I had busted a couple of mounts - and it took me plenty of time. You must be basing it on the labor rate manuals, not how long it took me!

But as @Martain says - its not too big a deal. Just get a regulator & motor. BUT it is usually easier to put the new one in if you took the old one OUT. The Regulator (with a bunch of cables attached to everywhere appears it could be put in about 40 different ways.) Hopefully that is where the manual at about page 89 will help.

I'll wait till the problem is behind to laugh at the repair job someone did before you.

I'd install a new one also. You may want to take the panel off your other door to see how it mounts.

Know it, in my fifties, it's not funny anymore when I waste time....just ordered one from Rock auto..then it's youtube for the install...I wanted an older truck but decent interior, found this one with 183K on it for $4000. looks good, some rust under..needs exhaust, ordered that also..

Look forward to all the help here

4K$ (+plus a $80-$90 window regulator + a little surprise labor) for a truck with decent interior is a hell of a lot better than the price of the $50K for a new one.

Hang in there!

Should be really easy. I did mine in about a half hour, with a friend to hold the glass up once it was time to get it on the lifters. I think the entire piece is five bolts, not including tightening the lifters around the glass (easy). And I've never changed one in my life before doing this one. I was pretty intimidated, but with my trusty Craftsman set and a 5gal bucket to sit on, all went well.

Default Update

So after a few hours and confusion...New regulator and motor, soldering drama in boot area between cab and door...window works from passenger side.

Then a couple days later it doesn't...Got out multimeter and no power...frustrated, looking for other wires broken..taking my time when I look up and see the child lock was flipped cutting power to the other windows..

Funny funny...

Few more readings and intermittent control from driver's switch while moving passenger switch assembly around in a circle points to a bad harness plug.

They want $45 plug shipping for this one plug..they know what they have so I will sacrifice, probably the drivers's rear on my Super cab, and swap it into the front passenger.

Any comments appreciated.

That's a common fail point. You need to grab each individual wire and jam it into it's spot in the plug. Their connection loosens up in there. That also happened to mine.
