I think the 4 valve was a Lincoln only item. I don't think it ever went into a blue oval.
I had a 2010 Expedition and it was a 3 valve.

Hm didn't know that. I thought my neighbor's F150 was a 4v. Where'd the power increase come from if it's the same engine? His truck feels significantly more powerful than mine. Or is there just something wrong with mine lol! Mine is very torquey off idle but when you're cruising and give it gas to pass or take off it'll drop down to a lower gear but really doesn't have much more acceleration than it did in the higher gear. Just makes a bunch of noise lol.
I will still say that I think comparatively the 5.4L 3v is not near as powerful as some of the other engines out there. My 4.7L in my dodge is more powerful than the 5.4L for sure and gets significantly better gas mileage. I'm not trying to complain I'm just kind of surprised that a modern engine with aluminum heads, multiple valves, overhead cam, variable cam timing, etc etc and a fairly large displacement isn't as powerful as I expected. My 98 f150 4.6L 2v with over 200k miles feels as strong as the 3v 5.4L. It also may be in my head or may be due to tuning. Driving it home with the headers it felt a lot stronger and it's not even tuned yet. We'll see on sunday I guess.
The 4.7L in my dodge makes about 340hp and 390lbft at the engine. And it's 2v, no variable cam timing, stock exhaust manifolds, etc. I'll be a bit disappointed if the ford doesn't at least make that with the intake, headers, and dyno tune. The dodge gets about 50% better gas mileage also.

Well dyno day was miserably depressing. Not only were they behind so I ended up waiting around for 3 hours, but the truck make horrific hp. I think it was around 150hp. So pathetic. So now I'm starting to wonder if something really is wrong, maybe torque converter issue, or cam phaser issue? But the truck runs good. He said it was very lean but even after tuning it made the same power. The HP curve falls flat, looks more like a torque curve. Strange...
Sorry I didn't take a video. I'll try to take a video later on of the sound.
I feel like I wasted a tremendous amount of money to make less than stock hp.

Well yeah it's supposed to be 300hp at the engine, probably about 200-225 rwhp for a 2wd. 4wd will be a little lower, but with tune and headers and cai I'd expect 200-225 at a minimum. Going to have to do some troubleshooting to see if maybe there's low fuel pressure or low oil pressure or something along those lines.

So I recorded a WOT 0-60mph time of about 14 seconds LOL! There's gotta be something fundamentally wrong with this engine. Other than a lack of power, it runs good, no stumbling or missing, no real driveability issues, and no check engine lights. Really it isn't even THAT underpowered, but it is pretty noticeable. Not enought to make it undriveable.
I'm thinking it might have something to do with either the VCT or the IRMC/CMCV. I'm going to try to do some data logging and troubleshooting to see if I can narrow it down. I've logged fuel pressure and it was steady right around 40psi at all times so I don't believe it's fuel supply related.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
