2005 F150 Story and mud flaps?

The other day I pulled off to the side of the road to let a car pass (1 lane gravel road) and found myself in some mud. Once i stopped i was unable to get out in 2wd (I didn't think it was muddy) so I put in 4x4 and worked my way out. This slung mud up mud all up the sides underneath my truck and caked it everywhere. This is a one time event for myself and the Truck. That being said i had been thinking of buying mud flaps before this event.

Soo What kind of mud flaps do you guys recommend?

and I tried to wash the mud out underneath the best i can getting all the brakes and steering componets pretty clean, but there is still a lot more mud underneath what would be the best way to remove it?

weathertech makes some nice molded mud flaps but i will tell you now, mud flaps wont hardly do a damn thing when offroad in the mud. as far as getting the mud out from under the truck, time to get on your back with a hose and hose it out. it takes time to get into all the little hard to reach spots and such and youll get soaked doing it but its worth it.

I have only gone mudding once, and it was the same weekend I bought the truck. I spent an hour with a hose and my fingers under the truck getting mud out. Almost 3 months later, I found some more on top of the frame while I was changing my fuel filter! I doubt a set of mudflaps will prevent mud from going anywhere but on the exterior of your truck. The undercarriage wont be protected by some mudflaps.

x2. it just takes a few washes to get it all off.

I got my mudflaps from Ford. Its nice when your friend is head parts guy at the Ford dealer and he gets you stuff at cost.
I put on the flaps because my paint was pretty chipped up already on my truck and it only has 52K miles on it. (I've only put about 1.5K of that on the truck). I didn't want it to get any worse so it was an easy choice.

Park your truck over your lawn sprinkler for a while and slowly pull it from front to back until the underneath is clean. It works for me. You could also go through one of the drive-through car washes that sprays the bottom of your vehicle.

I have the ford mud flaps.

Besides, mud acts as a natural noise suppressor.
