2004 Ford F-150 FX4

Hey guys, hope you all had a great thanksgiving. I've been looking for a 2004-2008 f150 fx4 model. Well i found a 2004 f150 fx4 silver with black interior extended cab super cab. truck has the triton 5.4. it is ALL original 100% and is clean and i like that cause i can mod it up to my liking. it is fully loaded, power everything, rear back up sensors, sunroof, power rear sliding, pretty much top of the line. only 109k original miles. i can pick it up for 8k what do you all think. now my question is after doing some research i found out that all of these motors the bottom end tends to knock... i have read that this is normal and well known for the 5.4 truck has clean oil always changed good oil pressure and good operating temperature, but that lower end noise worries me, its not that loud or noticeable unless you get on your knees and stick your head under the truck, idles smooth drives nice no check engine light, etc. ive seen these engine get over 300k so is it a well known issue should i buy the truck? thanks for all of your feedback

First off, is this from a private seller? Demand a carfax. Always check the vehicle history...it's cheaper to avoid a mess of problems than it is to inherit them!

8k for a 2004 FX4 loaded is a steal sitting at 109,XXX miles. That is a great price! These motors make noise. Cam phasers, injectors, pulleys & belt, and other odds and ends that might have gone without regular upkeep. Plug change could be overdue if they have not been done yet...and follow that up with a good oil change using your favorite synthetic oil. Lots of guys (including me) dismiss the factory oil wieght recommendation of 5w-20 and go with the 5w-30. It will quiet the motor down alot doing that. Let us know if you buy it and post up some pics!

were yall gettin these high mileage trucks? I bought my 05 FX4 reg cab, 6months ago with 30K miles on it all stock

that seems pretty good for a price! i picked up the exact same truck youre looking at with 85k miles on her for $15k after taxes, and i thought that was a steal after looking for a couple months lol.

And 30k original miles on a 05?! thats nuts! i wish people up here didnt use their trucks everyday and had low miles like that!

one of the main reasons I bought it, (other than I didnt want/need a full 4door, wanted at least 6.5 bed, and big motor small truck, full skidplates, had a tach and full gauges, black cloth interior) instead of a lifted 07 XLT scab with more miles

I bought my 05 F150 Fx4 with 125k miles on it for 12.5 from a private dealer(Keep in mind trucks up here in MN hold more value then anywhere else). I'm loaded up with leather center shifter backup sensors and sunroof. I'd say your's is a steal, EXTREMELY cheap. These trucks are built to last, keep in mind these weren't designed for your every day driving. These were built to haul tow and work, and for the most part are built to last.. Regular maintance goes a long way
