07 9.75" diff rebuild.need specs
Hi,new here to the forum, long time reader, lots of great info here, looking for some specs that i cant seem to find anywhere.
Im doing a complete re-build on a 07,9.75",L/S diff.I have walked the gears out,and am in the process of installing the new clutch packs.the newer packs and gears are upgraded ones(looks like greater surface contact area).I do NOT have the ford special tool for measuring the clutch packs, and have no chance on getting one anytime soon.the rest,i built
Im looking for the measurement of the clutch-pak with shim, what is spec, and what is recommended?Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Heres my measurements
the used packs,which use a .075 shim,measure in at .751 & .744
the new packs, measured with a .075 shim( measured dry) measure in at.752 ea.
i have all the shims from 065->085,but just need the "spec'd" or recommended measurement.
Thanx for any info
jp

No takers huh!?...Kinda figured it'd be hard to find the specs, being theres a special tool thats pre-measured.
Im gonna keep searching tho!if i do find something ill post it here, including the procedure i used.
Just one other thing, any one have any input on the clutch pack config.setup??
Stock is Gear-s-f-s-f-s-f-s-f-shim,but ive read of people using >Gear-s-f-s-s-f-s-f-Shim,for longer lasting and better surface contact ....
Im gonna just use the stock setup, but just wondering if anyone does it different and why??
Thx

Same here. The only thing I've ever done with a stock ford limited slip was rip it out and use it for a row-boat anchor, and replace it with a truetrac. I'm not even sure where to send you for that info.

Yeah,nearly impossible to find.
Just got the Friction Modifier in today so guess ill soak the clutches, call the dealer, ask for the specs,or,measurement of the special tool, and if not,put it in @ .752,and see how the gears fit.
Thanx for the replies anyways,
