2004 F150 proven longevity.

Just wanted to ease the fear of some of you thinking about buying a higher mileage f150.

I have owned my 2004 f150 since 07. It had 35980 miles when I bought it. I've been consistent with the oil changes, about every 5000 miles. At 75000 I replaced the alternator. At 120000 I had a tune up done. At 162000 I had the front suspension completely rebuilt and also changed the entire transmission fluid. I've had the brakes replaced two times since I've owned it. I drive this truck approximately 170 miles a day. I would drive it to Canada in a heart beat. These trucks last forever.

Majority of cars and trucks if they are taken care of will last a very long time.

Thanks for sharing your experience and welcome to the Forum.

Heck yeah!!
I have an 06 scab. I bought it used with 10k on it. regular fluid changes, @60k did a tune up and trans fluid r/r. @ 120k did the whole front suspension and another tune up, 2 brake changes..and just got back from a 600 mile round trip pulling a car hauler!! this thing is fantastic!!

I had to rebuild the trans at 200k km but have been driving it hard since, now sitting at just under 270k and still running strong. Had thoughts about trading it in but I just can't, it runs so well and looks good.

I've had great success with a Ford truck. I owned a '51 with a flathead V8, a '76 with a 302, a 2005 with the 4.2 V6, a Ranger with the 3.0 V6, and my current 2007 with the 4.6 V8.
All of these were bought used with the mileage high already; my current 2007 had 106K on it when I bought it; not even broke in yet! With this 2007, I drive it daily, and pull a 16 foot camper about once a month with it. As stated, routine fluid changes will keep them in great shape well past the 200K mark.
Some engines are prone to certain early maintenance failures, but forums such as this one help the owner repair them and keep them on the road.
