2004 F150 No Reverse
Truck is as follows:
2004 FX4 F150, 5.4L V8, Edge Programmer set to #2 Tow Mode, K&N Cold Air Intake.
Was messing around with some buddies yesterday mudding and doing some trail riding. Everything worked fine and shifted normally throughout the past couple hours we were there. Went through everything in 2wd and used 4 low in a couple rough spots. When we decided to leave, I happened to get in the ruts cockeyed and ended up getting stuck, I was in 2wd at them time. I shifted it into neutral and switched it into 4 low. Had to give it a little to get it to budge and DID NOT keep the peddle to the floor. Also was not slamming it from drive to reverse. I was able to back out and get out of the spot I was in. I drove out to the street and everything seemed normal. Went to put it in reverse and I didn't feel it engage. Thought something might just be goofy so I drove to a local Target because it had a big parking and it was late. I turned the truck off and go under it to look at everything to make sure everything was in place. Everything was plugged in and it didn't look like any wires were damaged and mud wasn't caked on anything to prevent it from shifting. The ONLY thing I noticed was what looked like something a rubber plug would go in to.
While driving every other geared shifted fine. There were no rough shifts and nothing out of the ordinary. At the lot, I checked the tranny fluid with it running. The fluid seemed to be of normal color and did not smell of burning. As of right now, the truck is sitting on my driveway that thankfully has an incline so if I need to leave I can.
Any ideas or insight on this would be much appreciated.

This same thing happened to my 06 FX4 a week after i bought it. When i bout the truck it had 62,000 miles on it so i went to get the transmission flushed, lo and behold 4 hours later, no reverse. I took it to a transmission shop and they determined it was the reverse servo or clutch system. I am not very knowledgeable with transmissions at all. All i know is they had my truck for about 3 days and it costed me $1700. about $1000 of that was in labor too. Hopefully yours is much simpler and isn't the same situation i had. Best of luck.
