2004 f150 differential gears
 

I have a 04 f150 with a BDS six inch lift running 35 inch mud grapplers. I am looking to run 4.10 gear ratio for the differentials, was wondering if everyone agrees on that choice also how hard it is to change them. I have a few buddies helping me but still want to know the process myself.

i did 4.56s w/35s because most my driving is in the city, and i might put 37s on after these tires are worn out. its so much better now.

i would do 410s for highway. they will bring you back to stock gearing/fuel mileage.

i got my gears installed by a shop because they only wanted 550 for install and i sold him the old diff and gears for 200...cost me 350 in the end.. id rather them do it and have the warranty if someone breaks.

I am grappling with this decision myself. I am stuck on the fence between getting the 4.10's or 4:56's installed.

Talked to a few people and 4.56 is the way to go. Using that set up will be a little more aggressive if that is the way your looking to go

I would also use the 4.56 gears. Unless you have a set of dial indicators and specs, I would have a shop install them. If you do not shim it just right you will get a rearend whine.
