Well my truck is having all the same symptoms as yours and the cel came on and it was a code for o2 sensor. Now they won't always light up as stated earlier but they are a major pain so I would also do those last

How do you pressure test the cats?

Most any shop should be able to use their sensor screwed into the O2 bung to test it. Start with the easy things others have mentioned, the air filter and FPDM as those are easy for you to rule out at home. If you haven't changed the front O2 sensors it's good maintenance as well for your mileage.

I would start with the cheap, easy and common problems.... As previously stated... FPDM and the gasket around the filter. For sure they are already gone on your truck if you haven't touched them.

If that doesn't fix them, move on to other problems.

I just posted a topic on the same thing. I have an 2004 as well. FX4. I checked for codes with my gryphon and got P2006 - Intake Manifold Runner Control stuck Closed. I would be willing to bet you have the same problem. It only bogs down bad when in higher speeds like 80mph on the interstate but runs fine in lower rpm. It also has a hard time downshifting to pass. I'm going to take it to the dealer tommorrow and Ill post how I make out.

Cool, I did have the air filter assembly off when cleaning the throttle body so it could be the gasket that needs replaced. No one kept up on the maintenance so I'm sure everything I replace is needed at this point

I will say. Before the bog/moaning sound issue was found to be a foam gasket issue on the intake housing, I thought it was a CMCV plate issue as described in this link... If the cheap and easy foam and or FPDM do not fix your problem, this would still be something to consider...

Well I replaced the foam around the filter, it was definitely all worn down. I used weatherstripping from an old pickup topper I had. This seemed to create a good seal but I'm still having the bogging down growl sound. It does it right below 2000 rpm and higher. Seems to be no pattern really, it just happens whenever I'm driving anywhere. I suppose the next step is to FTPCM. Here's a couple pics of my before and after filter seal.

I got my truck back the other day and it was the IMRC. Mine was stuck closed, yours might be open which would effect low RPMs. Here is the part if you do end up trying it.

All you have to do is pull the upper intake and unbolt and bolt up. I just took mine to the dealer b/c it was under warranty. Good luck!
