Default Paint calipers red???

I wante to see if you would have to take the caliper off the rotor to paint or if you could just tape around the caliper and save the hassle of taking off and puting back on?? Any help is good

you can tape the rotor off and do it that way but you have to be careful of the slide boots. the paint can cause them to deteriorate. just make sure you tape em too. if you get some paint on the braking surface just take some brake cleaner and wipe it off. brake cleaner takes paint off so be careful not to get it on the painted caliper or the truck itself and keep it away from the slide boots on the caliper, its also good at eating rubber.

the thing with painting calipers is once you paint them you have to wait like 24-48 hours until the paint is fully dry (depending on how many coats you use) if its not dry enough theyre just going to turn black from brake dust sticking to the paint.

i took my calipers off and spray painted them, they looked beautiful...i was impatient and put them back on and drove on them the next day later in the day. the were full of friggin brake dust.

no problem man. post up some pictures if you end up doing it! also make sure you get a caliper or high temp paint. if you get normal paint it might not stay on too well. the caliper can heat up pretty good.

I would take them off the truck. it isn't difficult at all to do, it will probably even out in the amount of time you would spend taping everything off. Plus this way you can get in every corner needed. Do at least 2 coats.
