I "WELL REMEMBER" laying on my back for two hours with junk falling in my eyes and my shoulder mussels aching while removing that damn 4" long bolt by flipping an open end wrench over a million times (turning it 1/16 turn each). Put it back in the same way!!

I would give a hundred bucks for a better easier ps mount on this engine . I am amazed someone hasn't come up with an aftermarket fix .

When I did my four valve. "I remember laying on my back for two hours with junk falling in my eyes and my shoulder mussels aching while removing that damn 4" long bolt by flipping an open end wrench over a million times (turning it 1/16 turn each). Put it back in the same way!!"
So I think the answer may be to remove the pulley so as to get a 1/2 turn ..... the front axle is in the way as well as the steering rack.

If I ever meet the guy who designed this!
In the meantime Im just cleaning things up, panting the brackets etc...it might not run but it will look dam good just sitting there...

@Anthony C You don't have any sockets that are (I think) 10mm?

I got 5 10 MM sockets the fitting is in the way ....cant get to that either...I will pull the Pulley ...
I ground down my good 10 mm wrench half the size to get in there I cant break it loose. There is no room for the wrench to move...

I managed to get a short 10mm socket with a short 6" socket wrench in there, and got it loose, even with the limited space that's there for the top one.

UPDATE:
Not too much happening other than prepping parts for re-assembly. Waiting for tools to arrive, there seems to be a delay. So much for Amazon Prime.

Cleaned the valve covers ...they were nasty...

Pulleys and ECU ready to go

New timing set and gaskets.

New Chains with links painted.....

H/V Melling pump / Lower gear....
I ordered a variety of specialty tools ...... Im hoping to remove the pump without removing the pulley .....

I remember using a GW ratcheting wrench - moving it short strokes a million times.

It was tedious but worked.

Thats what I did to remove the power steering pump bolts. Helps that I live in Texas, too. Little to no rust.

Looking up at the Power Steering pump.

The fitting is in the way of a socket. Because the fitting is at such an angle I can not get a wrench to slip over the bolt to turn it. I ground down a wrench to fit it in between the bolt head and the fitting and there is just no room to turn the wrench not even a 1/16.
