2004 F150 5.4 Cam Phaser issue?

I ran mine for about 30k like that and not sure if it was related, but it finally spit out a rocker. Scored the cam badly. Hindsight I should have done the timing job earlier and the Melling pump may have saved a lot of additional costs along with all the new rollers.
I'd do the timing job if for no other reason than to get the new oil pump on there.

Do a timing job and change out those phasers as a proactive measure. Trust me on this one. I ignored the knock, chain guide failed, jumped time and bent a rod. Just do the timing job now and you can do it yourself. It's not that hard. With help on here I got it done but the bent rod defeated me and I had a motor shop crack it open.
$500 or so to do it myself vs the $2,000 it cost me by waiting
