2004 F150 4.6 stx 4wd shifter removal help
So I'm still waiting on the machine shop to repair my head if any of you are following my other post, so I've been replacing the interior trim pieces that were missing or broken. I'm stuck on the 4wd shifter...it won't budge. It's a 2004 f150 4.6 stx ext cab with a column transmission shifter and a manual 4wd shifter on the floor...I ordered the cup holder/boot trim piece and have it at the shop but can't get the shift **** to budge. With all my might I can't get it to turn. I sprayed pb blaster on the under side of the **** (I'm assuming it's threaded on?) Am I wrong? I can't find any references to it online or any type of guides even referring to removal. Has anyone taken this off or replaced it?

I could not figure how to copy my pdf out of service manual. but I hope this is what your looking for. It looks like you just pry straight up on the console.

Thanks,
I ended up getting it on but not the way you/Ford recommended. I put the console in front of my heater for 10 min and got the boot warm and put Vaseline on the **** and used some force and a pair of screwdrivers to work the boot over the ****.
Side note: Got my head back yesterday....time to reassemble
