say guys i would like to ask you all......i got 128,000 miles and now i hear a lifter noise..... the mechanic told me to put 30w oil so it would not due harm to the engine....so i did and still i here the noise .... would there be a problem in the near future of my engine going belly up on me....should i be looking for a new f-150 truck?? i do not know how long the truck would last me... i change the oil every 4,000 miles with synthetic mobil one 5-30w and do the norm check up trans,brakes fluids,etc.. not yet change my water pump...give me your opinion....i tow my quads from calif. to utah 3 times a year.... they are all hiway miles.....thanks

If it is a 5.4 there is a good chance that it is cam phasers. Do a search for them on here and you will find a ton of information.

Yeah check cam phasers. My old truck clattered like crazy under 1200 rpm and only had like 40K miles on it. I never worried about it though.
