Default 2004 f-150 with ecoboost engine?

My f150 engine locked up so i need a new one. I found a remo 5.4 triton for like $3k, but could i find an ecoboost engine and put it on my 04 f150?

The stock engine is a 5.4 litre triton v8 on mine

Technically you can put whatever engine you want in your truck, but the costs to make that work is not worth it. Stick another 5.4 with the appropriate longevity modifications in it and be done. If you want an EcoBoost, buy the newer truck.

FYI I don't mean to answer in a smartass way, but the "can I put this engine in my truck" question has been asked many times before you.

I would think that putting an ecoboost engine into a 2004 to 2008 would present PCM/ECU nightmares. Finding someone who could flash the box that came with the ecoboost engine (yes, you'd want that plus it's wiring harness), and making all that wire into your existing wiring would be a trip; then getting the rest of the drivetrain to work (transmission shift points, etc) would simply have you climbing walls.
As stated, go with another 5.4.

I'm going to back these guys up too. I've seen people cram V10s in these trucks. It is do-able, especially since the ecoboost is small, but in terms of computer function. It may be more cost effective to just buy another truck if you want the ecoboost.

If you're going with anything other than a drop-in v8 gasser, go with a 4 or small 6 cylinder cummins turbo.

Don’t think an Eco would bolt up to our 4 speed tranny either...

It'll bolt up, buy it won't read the transmission since they changed the programming for the 6 speeds.

You would need a donor truck, with motor, transmission(transfer case), ECU, PCM, and all the wiring.

You could also get a 5.0 Coyote from Ford Racing with the computer and run it. Lots of the mustang guys have done that.

That's the kinda thing you might try on a project truck, where time and money aren't an issue. For a daily driver, go back with the 5.4

Where did you find your reman 5.4 3v for 3k.. ?I'm looking for 1 now..
Forget the EB motor.. Not worth the hassle and time.. Swap in a 5.0 if you got the time and money, but you will need a lot more than the just motor to pull it off.. The 5.0 is a sweet motor tho, I hope somebody makes a 1 and done conversion kit for the 04 - 08 f150 one day..
