2004 Coil replacement
I’ve watched numerous videos about replacing the coils in my 2004 F-150, invariably they show replacing the first coil on the passenger side. Are there any good videos or diagrams showing what I can safely disconnect without causing damage in order to get at those coils?

He is a 5.4 master. It is possible he has videos on replacing coils. He does for other motors -I haven't seen one for the 5.4 but that doesn't mean he hasn't uploaded one.

Some will say you need to remove the ECU but if you are doing coils but not plugs in my opinion you don't need to remove anything to make space. You just need to use compressed air or a leaf blower to get any dirt and debris out of the area first so it doesn't fall down in the hole. Then you unplug the wire harness from the coil and use a 7mm socket to remove the retaining bolt. Lift the coil out and hey presto.
I will say that unless you are sure you have a bad one I recommend keeping the OEM could and just replacing the boots. The OEM coils are more reliable than aftermarket ones and you can replace all the boots for around $35.
If you replace them motorcraft is preferred and I'm not a brand snob or OEM snob usually but this is based off of personal and observation of other esperiences from this forum.
