Check out this:
https://www.f150forum.com/f4/just-had-plugs-replaced-my-06-5-4-a-26189/

Apparently FORD decided to make it almost impossible for the "shade-tree" mechanic to change plugs on the 5.4 so the DEALER can charge $300-$500 for what should be a 30 minute service.

THIS is what really HACKS me off about dealers!....
and that's why I AVOID them whenever possible!

Instead of TRYING to get your business, they mfg vehicles that ONLY certified Techs can work on, either thru the Tech training OR the special tools/computers only available to dealers.............

PERFECT example is the FORD Dealer is replacing my differential.......
FOR OVER $1,700.00! Have you looked inside a differential lately?

Is it any wonder that now we (American Taxpayers) are having to save the car manufacturers? So they've not only been ripping us off at the DEALERS, but now thru FEDERAL BAILOUTS!

OK, sorry if I've offended anyone here, not my intention, I'll get off my soap-box now............(and I'm talking about both DEMOCRATS & REPUBLICANS!)

you can sooo go change your own plugs, however if you don't have a rotunda tool, but know someone who has..or i have seen guys make them...by how you talk, you sound like a Mr. Goodpliers...if you have a warranty that is dumb enough to pay 1700 bucks for a rear end, they should be kicked in the ***.

i'm no ford tech...but i can run circles around most of those retards with a fancy diploma

I wish you lived in my nieghborhood (Panama City, Panama) so you could help me do this, you have more confidence (and knowledge) working on these hi-tech trucks than I do, although I've done my fair share during my 62 years.

it's really not bad to change them, the tool is the issue...alot of guys don't have one or wanna buy 1 tool for 150 bucks (or however much they are these days) if you follow the service bulletin to the "T" you might break a couple, but you decrease the risk of breaking them greatly by following it...

bulletin here

check this guys website out...an alternative to the rotunda tool

I only have 25,000 miles on the 07 but with all the problems why wait. Don't need any problems I can avoid now.Plus I was wondering sence I run the e85 if that helps on carbon build up?

Here in Ky it is about .44 cheaper. I run it for about 2-3 tanks and then run some reg. Manual says to run it for 3000 miles then you need to run a tank of reg.
