Yes you can install a factory Ford nav unit. There is no reason it wouldn't work or that you would get static. If someone is getting static its not because of a lack of premium sound system. The main 24 pin connection has ALL the connections needed to make the radio function properly. Here is the wiring for our trucks radio. http://metraonline.com/files/products/INST71-5520-1.pdf

There will be a 24 pin connector and (I think) a 16 pin connector. I know for sure you will have the 24 pin. You will be able to unplug your current factory radio and plug in the factory nav unit without any wiring changes. The only difference is the nav unit will have a GPS antenna. I don't now if the radio comes with the antenna or not. I also don't know what kind of antenna or how powerful it will be. MY aftermarket nav unit I just put the antenna under the tray on top of the dash Like I said other than the GPS antenna you will be able to plug in all the connectors you unplugged from the factory radio you took out.

If the NAV unit has one it will work.. which I believe it does... all the plug is in the dash tray is a pigtail from the unit

That is correct if the nav unit has an aux port on the front of the radio then the axu function will work.
I would just plug in every connector you unplug from the old unit. Find a place for the nav antenna and you should be go to go. The nav unit requires a disc for the maps I believe. Make sure that come with the nav unit or you wont have any maps to navigate by.
