Thanks for that link i printed a copy , next question i see you can get aux. Plugs in a 12 pin or the smaller pin next to it ,would u know which one is the aux input on the back of that nav unit ? , i would like to find one that just plugs into a pin in the back and just run the plug in for the phone down by the cupholders to plug in my phone. Easy no spilcing plug and play.

16 pin plug is for AUX input but I don't know if there is a pug that can do what you want to do with adding the AUX port. Other than you could try to get the 16 pin plug with the FULL harness attached and wire that into your truck somehow but I think that's going to be a real PITA.

The 16 pin aux connector was for the Factory amp, that located under the back seat of extended/crew cab models. I see these come up for sale on EBay often, and they used to get posted here in the classifieds once in awhile. If you have an "optioned" truck, the wiring may already be there (behind the radio and under the rear seat carpet on drivers side). You may have to remove the back seat (drivers side) and feel around under the carpet for it to verify you have it. The factory amp also had to have power run to it, which I believe was located at the passenger side kick panel area.

I thought the 8 pin plug is for the amp? I know the 8 pin is for the sub. And the 16 pin includes the DVD player which is located in the radios AUX function?

I had the two optional plugs backwards. My error.

Ford made several radios for the 2004 to 2008 F-150's. Some had one plug (basic radio), some had two, and some had three. The three plug radios could do it all: play a movie DVD on the overhead console, connect to the factory amp, and allow control from the steering wheel (if equipped). What confused me early on was that I thought the steering whell control used one of the other plugs, but I found out that if wired for it, it was in the main (largest) plug, which left the other optional two plugs for the factory sub and overhead DVD.

In any event, you can take a radio out of any 2004 to 2008 Ford F-150, and it will play in another of the same years. However, the sub and steering wheel features may not, as the wiring in the main harness may be missing, and the second and third plug harnesses may not be there as well. I know from my last two STX models (a 2005 and 2007), the second and third plugs were not there, nor was the wiring for the steering wheel controls in the main harness.

Yeah i dont have steering wheel controls or dvd not enen an aux plug , just the am/fm antenna and 24 pin .
