Default 07 Intermitent start? Is it neutral saftey, ignition or key?

Issue is getting worse like safety switch is going.
Have to keep turning the key till it finally hits.
Doesn't start in neutral either, is what's got me thinking it might be ignition or key?
Can anyone tell me the best way to diagnose this? 07 5.4
Thanks

Default You are probably correct

But if your park neutral switch acting up it could be screwed up in both positions. You need to use a voltmeter to see where you are losing it .

Does it crank but not start or no crank at all? The key will allow it to crank but not start even if the key is bad. Or does the key not turn at all?

If it’s the key, your security light on the dash should be blinking very fast when you turn it.

Check the starter relay in the fuse panel. Wiggle it or tap it with a screwdriver while some turns the key. If fires up then swap the relay.

I'd wiggle the gear shifter while trying to start and see what happens.

Or the starter itself. The easiest way to check it is... Have an assistant handy. Turn the key and if it doesn't start, continue to hold the key in the cranking position and have the asst. give the starter a rap with a hammer. If it takes off, you have your problem.
